Horti ASIA

The organization of Horti Asia gearing up for the 2014 edition of one of Asia’s most important tradeshows for horticulture and floriculture. In an interview with Ladds Mongkolchaiviwat from VNU Asia Pacific, we get to know that Horti Asia enjoyed a possitive feedback from the previously held tradeshows in ’12 and ’13 and is adding more vallue to the three day event, held from 8-10 May in Bangkok. This year the organization has also launched “IFTEX Asia: International Flower Trade Exhibition Asia 2014”, a new co-located partner show of Horti ASIA 2014.

What is the feedback of Horti ASIA 2013 and how does it affect ASEAN countries?

“In May 2013, we organized the second edition of Horti ASIA to roll out the new technology and innovation in Horticulture and Floriculture Industry. As a result of hard work, our Horti ASIA was enjoying a great success. We welcomed more than 140 exhibitors and 6,200 qualified visitors from various countries. Horti ASIA completely supports the fast growing horticulture and floriculture industries in Southeast Asia. Unsparingly it becomes “Talk of the Town Event” and the largest horticulture and floriculture exhibition in ASEAN.”

What can visitors expect from Horti Asia 2014?

“Just like last years, we present the concept as the platform of sharing knowledge, technology and innovation for the complete supply chain of fruit, flower and vegetables Horti ASIA will also provoke buyers and sellers creating awareness of the growing industry and provide horticultural information. Next to this, we launched “IFTEX Asia: International Flower Trade Exhibition Asia 2014”, a new co-located partner show of Horti ASIA 2014.”

For years, Thai floriculture sector has been recognized by worldwide buyers for its success in developing outstanding breeds. In 2012, the total export value of Thai cut flowers & orchids slightly decreased from the past years. There are two main reasons behind the decline, first is the global economic depression, and second is the intense competition from exporters who can produce at lower cost.

“In order to support Thai floriculture sector, we have initiated “IFTEX Asia 2014”, said Ladds Mongkolchaiviwa. “IFTEXT Asia will be an international trade show for entire floriculture industry. On one hand, the show will work as a platform that connects Thai entrepreneurs with potential overseas buyers. On the other hand, the entrepreneurs can also learn and adopt new knowledge from other floricultural professionals from all around the world. Besides, we believe that two partner exhibitions, Horti ASIA & IFTEX Asia, will strengthen the network and benefit all sectors in the industry.”

How will VNU promote the exhibitions amongst the Asian entrepreneurs?

Ladds Mongkolchaiviwa: “We will have the roadshow campaign called “Horti ASIA on the Move”. The roadshows aim to promote Horti ASIA and IFTEX Asia 2014 throughout the country. The events will contain small exhibition area and focus on one day full conference under beneficial topics to mutual interest of each region by honorable speakers from government and private sectors. We will start from the South on November 21, 2013, at Twin Lotus Hotel, Nakorn Sri Thammarat. Nakorn Sri Thammarat is a model of many provinces at the moment. With the strong local government support and professional producers and growers, they are very successful to export their products to various countries. The topics of the conference will be focus on how to do the branding and marketing, processing technology and logistic.
